Plastic bags are killing wild life, littering our beaches and environment. World wide over a trillion plastic bags are used each year with Australians using 5 billion bags a year with most going into landfill and millions ending up as litter in the environment (Clean Up Australia)
I have created functional everyday reusable shopping bags made from premium grade Jute/Hessian, Juco, Canvas, Cotton and Handloom fabrics in a range of awesome designs! Hessian is 'hip' as it has a low carbon footprint consuming less resources than cotton, is extremely strong and durable. My designs are named after "bag" in various languages inspired from countries around the world.
As a former student of India's premier fashion institute (National Institute of Fashion & Technology (NIFT) I design my bags in Sydney, Australia and also in India by working with my manufacturer. I have visited rural India to source handloom Kalamkari and Ikkat fabrics as I am fascinated by the colours and intricate designs. I have seen first hand how these fabrics are made and also hope to support the artisans' endangered craft by using the fabrics in my designs.
Customers around the world can order my bags posted from Sydney, Australia.
Every bag counts! A lot of effort goes into a Thyli bag and here are some photos below of how the bags are made...
